Welcome to My Creative World
Hello, I’m Shirley Dawson, and I’m so glad you stopped by.
I’m an artist, photographer, designer, lifelong learner, and believer that creativity doesn’t end when we retire—it simply finds new ways to grow.
I live in the beautiful Ozark hills of Bella Vista, Arkansas, where the forests, lakes, waterfalls, wildlife, and changing seasons inspire much of my artwork. Whether I’m photographing a quiet sunrise, creating a digital painting, or experimenting with the latest AI art tools, my goal is always the same—to create images that bring beauty, peace, and wonder into someone’s life.
A Lifetime of Creativity
Before becoming a full-time artist, I spent 33 years with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, working in many areas of information technology, web design, computer support, and graphics. That career taught me to combine creativity with technical skills, something I still enjoy every day.
After retiring from federal service, I owned a portrait photography studio, designed websites for small businesses, and continued pursuing my lifelong passion for creating art.
Today I work in both traditional and digital media. My artwork begins in many different ways:
- Original photographs captured during my travels and nature outings
- Traditional painting techniques using acrylics and oils
- Digital painting created with natural-media software
- AI-assisted artwork that I carefully guide, edit, and refine into finished pieces
I see AI as another artistic tool—much like a camera or paintbrush—not a replacement for creativity.
Finding Beauty Every Day
Life doesn’t always follow the plans we make.
Today I create much of my photography and artwork from a wheelchair, but that hasn’t lessened my love for exploring the outdoors or creating beautiful images. If anything, it has taught me to slow down, notice details, and appreciate the quiet moments many people pass by.
Some of my favorite subjects include:
- Peaceful lakes and waterfalls
- Wildlife and birds
- Mountain landscapes
- Rural America
- Inspirational and faith-based art
- Tea, gardens, and cozy moments
- Painterly interpretations of my own photographs
Always Learning
One thing that has never changed is my curiosity.
I enjoy studying new artistic techniques, photography, design, WordPress, AI image creation, and digital marketing. Every new skill becomes another tool that helps me create better artwork and share it with others.
More Than Just Art
My hope is that when someone visits my website, they find more than paintings or photographs.
I hope they find encouragement.
I hope they pause for a moment and appreciate God’s incredible creation.
And perhaps they’ll discover a piece of art that reminds them of a special place, a cherished memory, or simply brings a little more peace into their home.
Thank you for visiting my gallery and sharing part of this creative journey with me.
I hope you’ll stop by often as I continue creating new artwork and exploring new ideas.
